Nine people, sixty million, no rule.

Someone opens a coffee roastery and needs sixty million rupiah. Nine friends and acquaintances each put in a share. The organiser collects into a personal account as pledges arrive.

If the total never reaches sixty, the early money has already gone on deposits and a machine that was on offer that month.

Nobody planned to lose it. The decision to spend the first six million was made before anyone knew whether the tenth would arrive.

Where the sixty million actually is, on the day pledge nine arrives

Pledged on paper
Rp 54 juta. Nine people have said yes, and eight of them have transferred.
Already spent
Rp 21 juta. A deposit on the shop and a roaster bought at a discount that expired that week.
Sitting in the account
Rp 27 juta, mixed with the organiser's own money because it is a personal account.
Still needed
Rp 6 juta from one person who has stopped replying to messages.
Recoverable if it stops here
Rp 27 juta, minus whatever the deposit contract says. Nobody has read the deposit contract.

No one behaved badly. The money was spent in the order it arrived, which is the only order available when there is no rule about when it may be touched.
